Mesa Mark V 90w guitar amplifier

Posted on May 2, 2013

Mesa Mark V 90w head connected to a Mesa 2x12 closed back cabinet. This is capable of just about any sound if you're smart enough to bring it out of the amp. It really demonstrates the different character of each guitar, noticeably more than with the Fender Deville 4x10 I had before. The built-in attenuator is really handy, it lets you set it to 90w, 45w or 10w and you can get some really dirty tones at manageable volumes.

I almost bought a Boogie as my first major amp purchase, had it on layaway but we had a show coming up so I had to use my credit on a lower priced Marshall head & generic cabinet. (The salesman wasn't thrilled with me.) I still think about that amp sometimes.

If I were to go back to playing guitar, this would be one of the amps I'd highly consider owning. Just depends on my finances. But I'm becoming more and more optimistic about that.
